In November 2025, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) a national disaster—a historic acknowledgment of a crisis that has plagued our nation for too long. Nearly 15 women are murdered daily, and over 35% of women over 18 have experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.

The President called on filmmakers and media professionals to contribute to responsible storytelling and inclusive media representation in addressing GBV.

Healing Lives is our response.

Healing Lives is a 13-part television intervention that does what no South African show has done before: it brings education, awareness, and healing into homes across the country through the power of local storytelling.
